There is no denying that
everybody in this world cannot achieve success, but it is almost definite that
success can be achieved if one is determined to do everything that is assigned
to him/her with sense of responsibility for the common good, not for himself/herself.
It has been said by many Nobel person that “Responsibility is the price of
success”.
Now we should elaborate it. What is
the responsibility that leads towards the success? It is generally thought that
responsibility comes with education, but, in fact “responsibility educates”,
say Wender Phillips. Responsibility teaches us to look at the measures to adopt
in order to emerge victorious in our attempt to carry out tasks in the best
possible manner; it teaches us to identify the causes of our failure in case we
do not successes.
If you know what those behaviours
were which did not let you succeed, you will look within and look for the
remedial actions. For example, if you think about situations when your anger
was the response to a particular circumstance, there is all possibility that
you will rewind the whole thing and find the trigger that caused you to lose
your control and claim. You will come to know that this had been an
interruption of some sort, or a situation where your courtesy has not been recognized.
In fact, you will realize that by the time you could make out what was happening,
you lost control and it was too late. But remember one thing you ought not to
berate yourself for an inappropriate response of the past. Instead, you should
be aware of the fact that your anger will never help you deal with any
situation. The energy behind anger is always negative.
The best way to maintain your cool
is looking within. You should always ask yourself whether you are taking full
responsibility for your part in whatever you are attempting to blame others. If
you are busy pointing the finger of blame you can’t focus on your role in
failing to analyse the situation with the clarity needed for the issue. At the
same time, you will not be able to acknowledge the contribution of others in
bringing that statement to a positive conclusion. You should think for a whil
and use your awareness to lead you to an understanding of whether you have
communicated your expectations clearly. You can easily do it if you are
prepared to take full responsibility.
Why does all the confusion or
lack of clarity crop up. In fact, you feel at sea when your plan does not work
out and you start fearing the fallout of your underperformed action. In the
words of frank Crane, “responsibility is the thing people dread most of all. Yet
it is the one thing in the world that develops us, gives us manhood or womanhood
fiber”. Indeed, you cannot think of success or achievement, unless you
discharge the duty it implies. Nothing comes for free to anybody. Bear in mind
that you also need to coordinate well with everybody associated with your task,
without coordination even your single-minded determination will not yield the
desired fruit.
“The man who gets the most satisfactory
results is not always the man with the most brilliant single minded, but rather
the man who can best coordinate the brains and talents of his associates”.
Nobody or nothing is more responsible
for your failure or success than yourself. If you are late for a meeting and
excuse yourself by blaming heavy traffic, you will be missing the point. Instead,
start earlier from your home and reach the venue before the meeting takes
place.
